"Fox" Battery. 2nd. Battalion / 12th. Marines. Okinawa, Japan. (circa 1986).

*Yours truly standing @ second row - second from right. M-198 Howitzer F 2/12 Battery, Fire Direction Controlman. (0844)
Today is Veteran's Day. Yesterday was the Marine Corps' 233rd. birthday. With all the happenings in the world today & in my career, it's hard to sometimes believe it's been more than 20 years ago when I proudly wore the uniform of the USMC. Being a Marine changed my life, and quite honestly, has had a lot to do with who I am each & every day. I think of my fellow Marines often..."Semper fi." -cg.

  1. Hey "Doc" Unland,

What a wonderful surprise to see a post from you here on my blog. I hope you visit the blog again and see this reply. I am truly humbled & almost teary-eyed. Yea, I think of all the former Marines & Sailors I served with in the mid-'80's. Those were very special times in my life. Please write to me at my email address: chet@chetgordon.com as you didn't leave a way to contact you.

    Semper fi,

  4. I was wondering if you knew of two marines in Okinawa during 1986. Either Sgt Robie Flannagan or Michael Reynolds? elflannagan@gmail.com

I wish I could remember every person name in F 2/12 during my tour, but all I can recall now are the faces of the young men they were.

  11. I could not agree more with the following sentiments. The Guys I served with are like the Brothers I never had. I call their Moms and Dads, Mom and Dad. Three of my Groomsmen in my wedding in 2009 were Bros from Fox2/12.
Outside of my Marriage and my Church, these guys are the most important people in my life.
